Blake’s class has begun their first set of swimming lessons.  Today was his first class.  He was supposed to wear goggles, and did, but boy was he unhappy about it.  We told him tonight that he doesn’t have to wear them if he doesn’t want to.  So, we’ll see.  Here are some photos from his … Continue reading »

Chengdu: wonderful, yet very tiring.

We spent 3 wonderful days in Chengdu.  We were outside and on the go the whole time.  It wears a boy out. Here’s Blake in the restaurant after the pandas.  He lay his head down and slept for 2 hours while we ate Thanksgiving turkey. Here is asleep in Scott’s arms in downtown Chengdu. And … Continue reading »

Moon Bears!!!!

Our visit to the Moon Bear Rescue Center was AWESOME.  Their story is terribly sad, but the work these people are doing is very admirable. There are bear ‘farms’ all over China and other Asian countries.  Bear bile is harvested from these bears once a month, but they are kept in cages like this all … Continue reading »

Chengdu

We walked through a very cool part of town last night.  It had been all fixed up and each entrance way was even more interesting than the last.  It was full of hip restaurants, neat little shops and lots of buskers. We walked by this fellow playing a neat flute like instrument.  As our kids … Continue reading »

We spent the morning at the Panda Center today.  Wow!  What an experience.  We arrived to Chengdu very late because of delays and we were up very early to sightsee, so expectations were low, but, wow, it was super. Blake checks out the map.  Standing by the big guy.  And that’s the last you’ll see … Continue reading »

Right this minute!

I am in a mini tech conference called Date Night With Your Mac. The FABULOUS Mae Punzalen is teaching me how to make an animate gif. I’m going to try it out here.  Right now.  Fingers Crossed! Okay it didn’t work. It’s supposed to flick through 3 pictures.  I’ll keep trying. Here we go – … Continue reading »

Proud Mommy Moment

Blake’s class was speaking about being thankful today.  Mrs Borden asked all the kids what they were thankful for.  One of the boys said he was thankful for people who share.  Now this boy is a lovely boy, but he has found transition to school tricky, and one of his most challenging things is working … Continue reading »

Sumo

We spent hours in the mat room this afternoon.  Hours.  The first hour and a half were spent with 3 boys from our neighbourhood.  The next one and a half were spent with 4 girls from the Links.  At one point the kids tried on the sumo suits.  They belong to the high school, I … Continue reading »
