Hossacks Three

I was reading one of my dads old wildlife magazines the other day and it said that female baboons who have strong ties with other members of their social troop actually live longer than those with less stable bonds.  I believe it actually said they live substantially longer than those other guys.  Hooray for sisterhood!  Even if having great friends doesn’t make me live longer, I know for sure it makes me live better.  And I happen to have one of the best group of girlfriends on the planet.  Sadly, they are scattered all over the planet, thanks to this wacky lifestyle that we have chosen for ourselves.

Scott, Blake and I traveled to Michigan to catch up with two amazing friends, Sharon and Tony, yesterday.  Hands down these are two of my best people in the whole world.  And I’m not just saying that because Sharon reads the blog (thank you for reading the blog,) I’m saying it because they are great, they are kind, they are fun and they are funny.  I loved working with them in Shanghai and since they’ve moved onto Laos I miss them everyday. More than just being my good friends, these are the kind of people I want my kid to be around.  Speaking of Blake, Shaz was with me when I peed on the stick and found out I was pregnant – in fact she bullied me into going to the doctor to pee on said stick – I knew something was strange with my body.  And she was there again when they pulled him out.  She’s been there for me ever since.

We had a great day at their amazing lake house.  I am determined to get to Laos to visit them this year.  Here are a few pics from the day:

Dumb me, I didn’t get a picture of me and Sharon or me and Tony or, and this would have been really crazy, me and Scott and Sharon and Tony.  Oh well.  Next year.
